Kids Ministry Coordinator (Part-Time)

Expressions Church – Pasadena, CA
Hours: 10–15 hours/week
Compensation: $18-25/hour 
Reports To: Lead Pastor

Expressions Church is a multi-ethnic, gospel-centered community in Pasadena where people can be who they are as they discover who Jesus is. We exist to help people explore faith in Jesus, experience life with him, and express love like him.

Role Summary

The Kids Ministry Coordinator will provide spiritual and administrative leadership for our growing Kids Ministry, creating a safe, joyful, and Christ-centered environment for children (birth–5th grade) and their families. This role combines weekly coordination, volunteer leadership, and curriculum planning to help kids and their caregivers encounter God and belong to His family.

Key Responsibilities

1. SUNDAY OPERATIONS (Weekly)

  • Oversee setup, check-in, and cleanup of kids’ spaces before and after services
  • Ensure environments are safe, welcoming, and well-prepared for each age group
  • Be a warm presence—engaging with kids, encouraging volunteers, and supporting families
  • Coordinate snack, supply, and activity prep for each classroom

2. VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT & CARE

  • Work with Lead Pastor to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to serve in kids' ministry
  • Create a culture of encouragement, teamwork, and spiritual formation among the volunteer team
  • Provide clear weekly communication, feedback, and appreciation
  • Ensure volunteers complete safety protocols, including background checks

3. CURRICULUM & FORMATION

  • Customize and prepare Orange kids curriculum 
  • Encourage spiritual growth and biblical literacy in ways that are interactive and fun
  • Equip volunteers and parents to lead well and disciple children through the material

4. FAMILY CONNECTION & SUPPORT

  • Partner with parents as the primary spiritual influence in their kids' lives
  • Communicate upcoming themes, memory verses, and take-home ideas
  • Be available to support families navigating life transitions or special needs

5. SAFETY & SYSTEMS

  • Uphold and refine our child safety and protection policies
  • Maintain organized records (e.g. rosters, allergies, check-in data)
  • Monitor and restock supplies for classrooms and volunteer materials

Ideal Candidate

  • Loves Jesus and loves kids—with a heart for nurturing faith in the next generation
  • Organized, dependable, and proactive in problem-solving
  • Gifted in building teams and encouraging volunteers
  • Familiar with or eager to learn tools like Planning Center, Canva, and Orange curriculum
  • Willing to be background checked and complete child protection training
