Job Description


 

The McKay lab in the Department of Agricultural Biology at CSU (mckaylab.org) is seeking to fill research positions. The research seeks to identify the genes underlying adaptation to climate, specifically the genetics of drought adaptation in the crops maize and sorghum. The successful applicant will be involved with measuring individual traits in a large field trial in Fort Collins, winter greenhouse trials, and will be exposed to some wet lab procedures. 


 

Seeking self‐motivated employees to help collect detailed phenotype data on research plots of diverse genotypes of maize.


 

For summer 2025, researchers will work full time, up to 40 hours per week. Work occurs on the main CSU campus, as well as at ARDEC, the CSU research farm 12 miles from campus.


 

Employees will need to provide their own transportation to campus and ARDEC.


 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Required Skills: The successful applicant will demonstrate attention to detail, an interest in genetics, ability to focus for long periods of time, and dedication to quality work. Much of the work consists of processing plant samples and will entail full days at the Agricultural Research, Development, and Education Center (ARDEC). Applicants must also have a valid drivers license.

Preferred Skills:           Prior experience in plant phenotyping.


 

Hourly Pay Rate:          $16
