AmeriCorps VISTA-Volunteer Engagement Coordinator: RMHC of the Capital Region

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare. Paid and volunteer staff work towards the goal of fulfilling this mission by helping children and families stay close to each other and the care they need 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

 

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual who is passionate about our mission. This person will utilize their interpersonal skills to engage with volunteers and enrich the overall volunteer experience. Experience with digital training and technology is a plus.
 

Goals and Duties of The Position 

The VISTA, serving as the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, will focus on: Attracting, educating, and engaging local volunteers to maintain the growth of (RMHC) programs. 

The specific duties of the position include:

  • Understand the full scope of the RMHC mission, each of our local programs and services, and the varied volunteer roles and responsibilities required to carry out our work.
  • Develop strategies to assess volunteer satisfaction on a regular basis to engage and retain volunteers.
  • Review existing systems and procedures to create digital trainings that are accessible, engaging, and informative for all volunteers.
  • Serve as additional support to engage volunteers and recognize their efforts.
  • Develop strategies and materials to help recruit volunteers as needed to support both existing and developing programs.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with local organizations to expand the volunteer pipeline and share RMHC’s mission.
  • Assist the RMHC team with the execution of the three year strategic plan.
     

Professional Development

As a part of the ACE program, VISTA members take part in our monthly team building days, attend AmeriCorps trainings, and have access to Siena’s faculty to learn more about their areas of interest. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have an Associates level education or higher
  • Have a growth mindset
  • US citizen or have permanent resident status
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook/Publisher)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Comfortable working with various computer software and audio-visual technologies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including RMHC-CR staff and volunteers and community partners
  • Ability to remain professional yet compassionate when interacting with families

 

Living Allowance: 

VISTAs earn a living allowance for their service. The annual living allowance is $24,962, which is $960.85 on a bi-weekly basis.
