Job Summary___________________________________________________________________
The Engineer Intern, through the oversight of a qualified project engineer, completes at least one engineering project within the area of assigned responsibility. This is a temporary position that will last between four and twelve months.
Responsible for participating, supporting, and maintaining compliance to the Company’s quality, environmental and occupational health & safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities as defined by the Company.
Position responsibilities include direct communications with employees, customers, or representatives.
Duties and Responsibilities_______________________________________________________
- Assists in the evaluation and approval of design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
- Uses Computer-Aided Design, simulation and other software tools to develop mechanical, electrical, and/or logical systems.
- Works with the prototyping and manufacturing teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues prior to production implementation.
- Creates safety and operational documentation related to manufacturing processes.
- Regularly informs management of the status of each project.
- Develops and evaluates theoretical and conceptual designs.
- Analyses engineering sketches, models, drawings, specifications and related data to determine design factors such as size, shape, material selection and arrangement of parts.
- Conducts experiments, analyses data, and interprets results.
- Models, demonstrates, and tests prototypes.
- Prepares interim and completion project reports, as needed.

Language Skills- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, postage meter and telephone.
Knowledge and experience with CAD/3D modeling and simulation software.
