Structural Engineer Internship
Compensation commensurate with experience. Internship is in Indianapolis, IN. No relocation assistance for internships.
Eligible candidates: will pursue a Masters Degree.

Janssen & Spaans Engineering (JSE) is offering a structural bridge design internship for one of the largest bridge design teams in Indiana. The below is a summary but not complete listing of work specifications:
Job Description: (Internship responsibilities will vary based on active project needs)
- Perform structural engineering on bridge design projects using design software
- Work with CAD technicians to develop bridge plans
- Assist supervisor in development of plan sets and details
- Follow JSE, Client, and state DOT standards and guides for developing projects
- Coordinate with supervisor and other staff members to complete projects
- Prepare rebar lists, quantities, and cost estimates
- Travel (as required)
- Additional tasks as assigned
Desired Skills: (many skills will be learned during internship)
- Acquiring a Bachelor’s and plans to obtain a Master's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE or MSCE)
- EIT certification a plus
- Become familiar with AASHTO codes and standards
- Hone communication skills and ability to work in team environment
- Exposure to DOT i.e. INDOT
- Apply Mathcad, Excel, and Word applications
- Previous structural modeling experience a plus
