Virtual Campaign Fellow

Shirley Aldebol is a lifelong labor organizer who has spent her career fighting for New York City’s working families. She’s running for the City Council to flip the only Republican-held seat in the Bronx and fight for affordable housing, fully funded public services, good-paying jobs, and safe, liveable communities.

Shirley Aldebol for City Council is seeking Campaign Fellows to work on a competitive City Council race in New York City’s 13th district. We are looking for passionate, hard-working individuals who will work with the campaign team to build a robust voter outreach and turnout program in the district, which is located in the East Bronx.

Goals

This fellowship aims to get young people to participate in the electoral process and learn about campaigns for local office. We are invested in the next generation of our city’s leaders to continue building a safe, healthy, and affordable city where all New Yorkers can thrive. Fellows will have the opportunity to grow professionally by gaining leadership and organizing skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with voters through phone banking
• Work with campaign staff to plan and lead virtual phonebanks
• Recruit and train volunteers to participate in direct action with the campaign
• Assist campaign staff with digital media tasks
• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and high comfort level with talking to voters over the phone
• Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work with a team to accomplish common goals
• Interest in electing Democratic candidates and a strong commitment to progressive values
• Spanish language proficiency is a plus, but not required

Logistics

This is an unpaid, part-time, remote position that requires about 10-15 hours a week. Most schedules will consist of some weekday evenings and at least one weekend day during the day.
