Research Assistant – PMDD & Menstrual Health
Overview:
Her Mood Mentor is seeking a detail-oriented and curious Research Assistant with a passion for women's health—especially PMDD and menstrual cycle awareness. The role is central to our mission of increasing awareness, education, and advocacy around PMDD through high-quality, evidence-informed content across our blog, social media, podcast, and educational platforms.
Role Responsibilities:
* Conduct in-depth reviews of academic literature, clinical trials, case studies, and emerging research on PMDD, hormonal health, menstrual cycle disorders, and adjacent topics (e.g., ADHD, mood disorders, functional medicine).
* Identify key findings, quotes, statistics, and trends that can be translated into engaging educational content.
* Create research summaries, bullet-point briefs, and citations to support blog articles, podcast outlines, Instagram content, and course development.
* Collaborate with the content and creative teams to ensure scientific accuracy
* Track ongoing or upcoming research studies and flag any notable developments or publications relevant to PMDD and hormonal health.
* Maintain a searchable, well-organized library of research summaries and references for internal use.
* Assist with fact-checking and updating older content to reflect the latest evidence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to read and synthesize complex scientific literature.
* Background in a health-related field such as psychology, biology, nutrition, public health, or women’s studies.
* Clear and concise written communication—especially when simplifying dense information for public audiences.
* Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Familiarity with citation management tools (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley) and research databases (PubMed, Google Scholar, etc.).
* Passion for women’s health, menstrual cycle education, and social impact is a must.
Bonus if you have:
* Experience writing for digital content (blogs, social media, podcasts).
* An interest in functional medicine or integrative approaches to hormone health.
* Personal experience with or advocacy for menstrual health, PMDD, or related conditions.
