Kitchen and Cleaning Lead

Hazelwood Preschool is a nature-centered preschool nestled against Fauntleroy Park in West Seattle, providing a nurturing environment for children aged 2–5. Position Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen and Cleaning Lead to help keep our school running smoothly behind the scenes. This person will be responsible for preparing food and snacks, maintaining cleanliness throughout the school (including restrooms and common areas), and managing inventory and supplies for the classrooms. This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on tasks and organizational work, and who takes pride in creating a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for children and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve daily snacks and meals according to school/Health and Safety guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas including the office, restrooms, and staff kitchen
- Assist with light cleaning tasks in classrooms as needed (wiping surfaces, restocking supplies)
- Track and restock classroom materials and consumables
- Create and maintain shopping lists for school supplies and groceries
- Organize and put away deliveries
- Support health and safety practices by keeping supplies well-stocked and workspaces clean
- Communicate with teaching staff about supply needs and help troubleshoot logistical issues
- Occasionally assist during school events or special programs that require extra preparation
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food service, janitorial work, or facilities coordination preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfort with light physical labor (lifting boxes, restocking shelves, etc.)
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to be a helpful presence in the school community
- Food handler's permit (or willingness to obtain upon hiring)
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring)
