
Environmental Sustainability Instructor (High School)
The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. The Summer 2025 Program has 16 sessions:
July 7 - July 31 from 9am-2pm Mondays through Thursdays

Description: Students will explore the history of human impacts on the global ecosystem. This course will study the main threats to the preservation of Earth's natural resources. Students will focus on how to create a sustainable future that supports environmental justice.
Specific Duties
Plan and teach original course curriculum for 20-22 students
Evaluate student and group performance
Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
Monitor and maintain student attendance records
Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material
Plan for end of semester project
Schedule: 9am-2pm + weekly one hour faculty meeting
Salary: The pay rate is $45 an hour for a total of $4,500. This includes 72 hours of instruction and 28 hours for campus orientation, staff meetings, and prep work.
Qualifications
Required:
Availability each program day from 9am – 2pm + weekly one hour faculty meetings
Degree in subject area or related STEM field
Previous teaching role in subject area
Possess good interpersonal skills with teenagers
Experience guiding students with research projects
Preferred:
Prior experience with middle or high school students
Possess innovative and creative instructional methods
Enthusiasm for designing original, self directed curriculum
Have a strong classroom management style
Demonstrated ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment
