Data Science Intern

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Data Science Intern to join our team. This role will focus on preparing and collecting data, as well as administering and analyzing results to support data-driven decision-making. The intern will work closely with our data science team to contribute to projects that drive business insights and innovation.

There is some basic admin duties that go along with the role. 

Responsibilities

Data Preparation: Clean, preprocess, and organize datasets to ensure data quality and usability for analysis.

Data Collection: Assist in gathering data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and external datasets.

Administration of Results: Compile, summarize, and present analytical results in clear, actionable formats such as reports, visualizations, or dashboards.

Exploratory Data Analysis: Conduct preliminary analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights under the guidance of senior data scientists.

Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver insights that align with project goals.

Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of data processes, methodologies, and findings.

Qualifications

Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis tools such as Python (e.g., pandas, NumPy) or R.

Basic understanding of data collection methods, including working with APIs, web scraping, or database querying (e.g., SQL).

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau) is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Prior internship or project experience in data-related tasks is preferred but not required.

Location: Salt Lake or Remote

Compensation: $15 an hour
