About the Position:
The City of Grand Junction Parks Department is hiring a full-time Operator for our Turf Maintenance Crew. This position supports the entire parks system with a focus on turf management, including mowing, edging, string trimming, aerating, herbicide application, trash collection, and fertilizer programs. Responsibilities also include helping maintain schedules, training seasonal staff, and recommending equipment needs. A Class B CDL is required.

What You'll Do:
- Lead a team of seasonal staff members to maintain the park's turf, during the growing season.
- Mow, weed, renovate, and aerate turf, edge, and trim around fence lines and other features.
- Make watering and maintenance recommendations.
- Perform safety and maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles or equipment.
- Clean and maintain assigned areas including grounds, cemeteries, athletic fields, play areas, courts, swimming pools, and pick up debris and litter.
- Implement a maintenance schedule that is consistent and predictable to user groups, the public, and operations staff.
- Coordinate with Park operations staff to ensure equipment and schedules fit the needs of the organization.
- Report to the Parks Supervisor for routine updates and appropriate resource allocation, Including mowers, staff, and other equipment.
- Coordinate equipment service with the Parks equipment staff and the City’s fleet department.
- Support Parks staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
- One year (1) of general labor experience.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver License.
- Some assignments in this classification may require the possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Commercial driver's license within 6 months of hire as required in the assigned area of responsibility.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
