About the Role
We're seeking a Junior Technical Artist to support our VR development team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is technically inclined, visually aware, and eager to grow in the immersive gaming space.
You’ll work alongside our senior artists and developers to bridge the gap between art and code—integrating assets, optimizing performance, and assisting in prototyping gameplay features in Unity for VR platforms.
Use a Meta Quest 3 headset and have hands-on experience building or supporting VR projects.
Responsibilities
Assist with integration of 2D/3D assets into Unity VR projects.
Support optimization of assets and scenes for performance on standalone VR devices (Meta Quest 3).
Collaborate with developers to implement shaders, materials, and simple interactions.
Contribute to building and testing in-game prototypes and tools.
Troubleshoot visual and performance issues across various VR builds.
Maintain visual consistency by supporting technical requirements for the art pipeline.
Requirements
6 months – 2 years of experience working on Unity-based VR projects (personal, academic, or professional).
Own and actively use a Meta Quest 3 headset for development and testing.
Familiarity with Unity’s rendering pipeline, scene setup, and performance tools (e.g., Profiler, Occlusion Culling).
Comfortable writing basic C# scripts for interactive elements, tools, or automation.
Understanding of common VR performance bottlenecks and comfort best practices.
Working knowledge of tools like Blender, Substance Painter, or similar.
Nice to Have
Experience with shader creation (Shader Graph or HLSL).
Exposure to Unity’s VFX Graph or Particle System.
Previous experience collaborating with both artists and programmers in a game pipeline.
Familiarity with VR SDKs such as Oculus Integration, OpenXR, or XR Interaction Toolkit.
What We Offer
Flexible hours and fully remote work environment.
Mentorship from experienced developers and artists.
Opportunity to grow into a specialized or hybrid role (Technical Artist, Gameplay Programmer, etc.).
Hands-on experience building real VR games and prototypes for standalone headsets.
