NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team. As our Accounting Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with accounts receivable, cash receipts, and the collections functions of NTCA and its entities. You will maintain a close and highly responsive relationship with the day-to-day activities of the Finance Department, promote positive customer relations and provide excellent service to internal and external customers.

What will you do?

Accounts Receivable

  • Support the accounts receivable processes for NTCA and its entities including the areas of membership dues, events, and member benefits.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable balances to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing A/R journal entries as needed.
  • Process refunds related to NTCA and related entities’ member accounts
  • Ensure the accuracy of the data from the feeds to the general ledger.

Collections

  • Manage the collections processes for all entities by adhering to the collections policies and procedures of NTCA and its entities.
  • Monitor email and calls from members. Perform research as required and provide timely and accurate responses.
  • Contact delinquent members regarding the status of outstanding accounts and take appropriate follow-up action.
  • Proactively raise member-related issues in the areas of payments and collections to Finance and other external department staff.
  • Prepare collection-related reports.
  • Update member records in the CRM with information related to members inquiries and collections.

Cash Receipts

  • Process daily and recurring ACH member payments in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Process and deposits incoming checks.
  • Monitor the AFT/ R&S/ 401(h) email inbox for any incoming contributions daily
  • Support other cash receipts functions as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Assist external auditors in various annual audits as required.
  • Perform other duties or special projects assigned.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following position requirements:

  • Understanding and strong operational knowledge of accounts receivable practices, especially collections and billings.  Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of membership systems, billing systems, credit card processing systems and GP Dynamics.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite skills including intermediate-level Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups and simple formulas).
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills; attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines; and effective organizational, typing, and general administrative skills.
  • Undergraduate degree and 1-2 years of related work experience preferably in nonprofits or associations.
