Junior High Math Teacher

Grapeland Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Junior High Math Teacher. This full-time position requires a dynamic educator who is passionate about teaching mathematics and fostering a love for journalism among students. The ideal candidate will create engaging lesson plans, promote critical thinking, and encourage students to express themselves through writing and media.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans for both math and journalism classes that align with state standards and school curriculum.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, including tests, projects, and presentations.
- Provide individualized support to students to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance learning experiences.
- Guide students in researching, writing, and producing journalism content, including articles, newsletters, and digital media.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate math concepts into journalism projects and vice versa.
- Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Uphold school policies and contribute to a safe and respectful learning environment.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for middle school mathematics and journalism (or the ability to obtain one).
- Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics concepts and journalistic principles.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software.
- Previous teaching experience or student teaching in a similar setting is preferred.
- Passion for education and a commitment to fostering student growth and development.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Salary Range:  Based on experience

Benefits: BCBS TRS-Active Care Health Insurance.  $150/month paid by the district and $75/month paid by the State of Texas
