What You'll Do:
- Contributes to the development of a coherent High School Math instructional program and applies instructional expertise to improve the effectiveness of core curriculum and instruction, including the implementation of current Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
- Assesses the needs of High School Math teachers , and school leaders that leads to the development of resources to address those needs and increase the quality of instruction.
- Develops research-based recommendations for instructional strategies, professional development, and assessments to increase the quality of teaching and learning in High School Mathematics
- Implements District instructional foci and assists with the development and facilitation of the department’s core professional learning offerings related to High School Math content, instructional best practices, and language development
- Assists network and school teams in the identification of programs, instructional activities, and current effective teaching practices to ensure continuous improvement; works collaboratively to develop High School Math professional learning which meets the needs of all stakeholders
- Supports the development of coaching plans, which include focused goals and measures of success, and provides coaching to targeted audience in order to improve High School Math instruction,and effective implementation of key District strategies and resources
- Deeply analyzes student achievement data (student work samples, interim assessments and performance-based assessments) and qualitative data (curriculum implementation data, surveys, student interviews) to determine how to better develop materials and provide targeted, high quality teacher training and coaching.
- Serves as a liaison between school based educators, central office teams, and curriculum vendors to ensure coherent and alignment with district goals.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree - Urban Education or Mathematics - Required
- Master's Degree - Urban Education or Mathematics - Preferred
- Five (5+) plus years of High School Mathematics teaching experience - Required
- CDE teaching certificate in Mathematics (Secondary) - Required
- Knowledge with Google products including Docs, Sheets, and Slides
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
- Work collaboratively with others on a team
- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of effective mathematics instructional programs and methodologies and experience in providing such instruction to meet Colorado Academic Standards
- Knowledge of best practices in curriculum instruction and standards-based education, how students learn in the designated curriculum focus, and best program practices
- Proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking Spanish highly desirable
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
