Join the team at YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow, just 14 miles east of Stevens Point, WI, for a rewarding summer filled with fun, adventure, and personal growth!

Nestled on beautiful Lake Elaine, our camp offers unforgettable experiences for youth ages 7-17 through Overnight and Day Camp programs. We focus on small group experiences that help campers and staff alike grow in spirit, mind, and body — all while creating lifelong memories.

Each week, our camp welcomes 55-65 day campers and 8-25 overnight campers, providing a close-knit, community atmosphere where meaningful connections are made and every individual matters.

About the Role

The Camp Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in creating a positive camp experience by ensuring that every meal is nourishing, safe, and served with care. You’ll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations — from menu planning and meal preparation to leading a small kitchen team — all while contributing to the camp’s supportive and fun atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and serve 3 meals daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for campers and staff.
  • Manage kitchen operations, including food and supply ordering, inventory, and budgeting.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff schedules and daily tasks.
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining areas meet health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of food service operations.
  • Assist with general camp operations and activities as needed (team support, special events).
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment that aligns with the YMCA’s mission and core values.

Qualifications

  • Experience in kitchen supervision and/or large-group meal preparation required.
  • Preferred: Education or experience in food management, nutrition, camp management, education, or recreation.
  • Leadership experience and a passion for working with youth and teens.
  • Positive role model with strong teamwork, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
  • CPR & First Aid certifications (training available if needed)
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the job (lifting 20-60 lbs, standing for extended periods, kitchen cleaning duties).
  • Must pass a background check and provide a physician-signed health examination before employment.
  • ServeSafe certification preferred, but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

Approx. 40 hours per week, Sunday – Friday. Schedule may vary depending on camp needs. Typical times may vary based on amount of time needed to prepare for and clean-up after meals and complete any additional duties.

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
