Linux System Administrator Testbed

Description

CeLeen, an operating firm of Command Holdings, is seeking a Linux System Administrator Test bed to support a contract within the Department of Energy. This position would support a critical science and engineering computing environments. The individual will join a fast-paced, dynamic, agile team environment passionate about the delivery of computational engineering services and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is well rounded, having experience with modern systems architectures, development methods, tools, and the underlying infrastructure. We are looking for a self-motivated, driven, problem solver to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns.
  • Perform systems management and integration functions.
  • Apply fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to system performance, functionality, and security.
  • Creating, running and managing Ansible playbooks.

 

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers) and /or occasional Loud noise (airfield, large equipment).
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.
  • Employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Travel:

  • 0-10% / Minimal travel expected: offsites, meetings, training, a conference.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of server experience //OR// 6 years of experience supporting physical and virtual Linux Servers in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have experience in LINUX Systems Administration.
  • Experience running RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Ubuntu OS, including installation, configuration, patching and troubleshooting.
  • Must have practical experience in using command-line tools, managing files and directories, and performing common system administration tasks.
  • Familiar with core Linux concepts, including user accounts, permissions, file systems, and basic networking.
  • Experience installing, updating, and troubleshooting software, including applications, services, and tools that are commonly used within government environment.
  • Understanding networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, and firewalls.
  • Implementing security measures to protect the system, including user authentication, access control, and firewalls.
  • Experience using shell scripting to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Working with other team members and users to resolve problems and improve system performance.
  • Experience with creating, running and managing Ansible playbooks.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-Q Clearance.
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation including fingerprinting.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. CeLeen will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current, active DOE-Q or L Clearance or Active DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field.
  • Any applicable certifications regarding RHEL.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (or would need to obtain within 6 months of start).
