Job Summary - A member of the Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team, reporting to the Manager of Marketing & Digital Media, the Marketing Specialist will work alongside MarCom team members to execute marketing, communications and administrative work in support of the entire organization. The Marketing Specialist will assist in the planning, development and implementation of digital marketing strategies and content on behalf of the Food Bank, primarily focused on the website & social properties, as well as manage an internal portfolio of creative services projects- ensuring all projects are executed in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media
- Research the strategies and tactics of other food banks, as well as other nonprofits, to determine current digital trends and evaluate success
- Conceptualize, plan, create and publish content to the Food Bank’s social media channels
- Capture, edit, and publish short-form video content in line with the Food Bank’s social media strategy
- Execute the Food Bank’s social media strategy through the creation of other digital assets & multimedia, as well as other related responsibilities (analytic reports, boosts, etc) on each platform.
- Lead social collaborations with external partners
- Oversee implementation of influencer marketing campaigns & ensure success.
- Respond to comments, mentions, and direct messages on the Food Bank’s social media channels in a timely manner, during normal business hours.
- Seek and deploy innovative and engaging social media capabilities and drive internal social media competency development in others
Website, Administrative & Creative Services
- Oversight of bi-annual website auditing process to ensure consistent and accurate content
- Day-to-day management of website updates (pittsburghfoodbank.org), as requested by internal teams
- Implement SEM/SEO tactics
- Edit, fact check and proofread content for marketing materials on the website & as assigned
- Make regular updates to building display screens
- Ensure digital event calendars are up to date
- Design, edit and deliver graphic collateral updates for various print and digital materials
- Capture photos and videos of neighbors, volunteer work, and food distributions to help tell the story of the Food Bank
- Assist in strategy & creative for digital media buys (social media, search, display, and video ads, etc.)
- Ensure marketing materials and all communications are in line with the Food Bank’s style and brand guidelines.
- Maintain relationships with a small portfolio of internal teams, providing strategic guidance as well as project management & execution of relevant assistance requests
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be detail-oriented
- Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, media, communications, advertising or related field
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role or 3-5 years' experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated graphic design skill
- Extensive experience managing social media campaigns
- Familiarity with digital media tools such as WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Meta Business Manager
- Experience with shooting, editing & posting on short-form video platforms (IG, TikTok)
- Must have knowledge of digital marketing best practices, nonprofit relevance a plus
- Strong self-motivator who exercises good judgement and accountability in a hybrid environment
- Must be a team-player and flourish in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize and handle multiple functions simultaneously
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Must have ability to think critically
