As a Public Affairs intern with The Fertilizer Institute, you'll engage on key issues such as trade policy, environmental challenges, sustainability initiatives, infrastructure modernization, energy policy, and other critical areas. Work on projects related to chemical manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, and logistics, all while developing valuable skills and contributing to significant industry advancements.
Job Title: Public Affairs Intern
Location: The Fertilizer Institute – In Person (Flexible Scheduling)
Pay: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour, based on experience
Objective:
The Public Affairs Intern will design and produce written and graphic content for our website, social media, collateral materials, podcasts, and videos. They will also assist the Public Affairs team in handling large and small projects, as needed. This role is ideal for candidates looking to enhance their communication and/or design skills, as well as contribute to significant projects within the public affairs domain.
Responsibilities:
- Provide creative and strategic support in building communications plans.
- Assist with media relations and the development of communications materials, including press releases, media advisories and media kits.
- Present creative work for team reviews.
- Establish milestones and track progress for ongoing projects.
- Monitor news coverage of The Fertilizer Institute to assist with daily reports.
Projects May Include:
- Producing graphics and videos for weekly social media updates.
- Assisting in updating website content and event-specific applications.
- Creating informational one-pagers, posters, and other printed materials.
- Contributing to blog content through research and writing.
- Assisting in the production of newsletters.
Learning Outcomes: Interns will develop essential skills in public affairs, produce work that can be added to their professional portfolios, and gain experiences that prepare them for a career in the field.
Qualifications:
- Currently working toward a bachelor’s or associate degree in Communication, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong writing skills, with experience in copywriting and editing.
- Outstanding creativity and proficient technical skills, including familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proactive in taking initiative and capable of managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
