Web Accessibility Intern
The Eye Spy Foundation is building a more accessible digital future for the blind and low-vision community through EyeSpy.org, the one-stop shop for accessibility resources. We’re looking for a Web Development Intern to play a vital role in enhancing and optimizing our platform.
This hands-on, collaborative internship will give you real-world experience working within our tech stack to improve website functionality, user experience, and accessibility. You’ll work on:
Developing and maintaining WordPress pages with a focus on accessibility using the Divi theme
- Implementing WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) to ensure the website is fully accessible for all users
- Conducting usability testing to identify and fix accessibility issues
- Collaborating with the team to optimize website performance and ensure fast, smooth navigation
- Using ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and PHP to enhance website features and custom fields for improved accessibility
- Ensuring content management is accessible and easily navigable for all users
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong interest in web accessibility and inclusive design principles
- Experience with WordPress development (Divi theme knowledge is a plus)
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
- Understanding of UX/UI best practices and accessibility for users with disabilities
- Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain websites with accessibility in mind
- Problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
