Marine Engineering Intern

Marine Engineering Intern (Summer, Onsite – Paid)

Location: Downtown Norfolk, VA

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Student interested in gaining hands-on experience in marine engineering.  This summer internship offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers supporting engineering deliverables for the U.S. Navy, MSC, and USCG.  Interns will focus on developing and updating technical drawings in AutoCAD and learning about real-world engineering practices in the marine environment.

 Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering team by creating and editing technical drawings using AutoCAD
  • Assist with basic engineering tasks related to mechanical, electrical, or structural marine systems
  • Learn and apply industry standards relevant to Navy and Coast Guard vessels
  • Participate in internal team meetings and reviews
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure quality and accuracy in deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Naval Architecture, etc.)
  • Strong interest in marine engineering and ship systems
  • Basic experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, a great attitude, & eagerness to learn
  • Must be U.S. citizen and clearable for a security clearance
  • Available to work onsite during the summer; M-S, schedule flexibility available
