Job description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates, maintains and updates land parcel databases using ESRI GIS software;
- Conducts research (Assessor’s Office, files, and database) of legal documents to insure correct platting of property descriptions;
- Produces printed maps for both the Regional Managers showing map features, property boundaries, platted lots, recorded bearings and distances as applicable, parcel numbers, etc.;
- Provides technical and administrative assistance for the GIS Manager
- Manages operation of GIS equipment, software, data, and products;
- Other related duties assigned by the GIS Manager;
- Specific capability to operate ArcGIS desktop software for preparing Survey maps, maintaining such maps, along with the ability to analyze data, and prepare map products while developing and maintaining GIS data sets;
Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS software;
- Experience with ArcGIS Server and SQL databases.
- Ability to read legal descriptions, deeds, plat books, maps, and software procedures manuals;
- Skill in interpreting land descriptions, maps, drawings, charts, plans, survey records, and aerial photos;
- Microsoft Office suite products such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Strong cartographic skills to represent data in a clear, accurate, and concise manner using proper cartographic principals with understanding of Geographic Coordinate Systems concepts.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or related field with emphasis in GIS OR equivalent combination of education and/or work experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
