Reporting into the Final Test & Calibration Supervisor, the Final Test Technician l is responsible for playing a pivotal part in Sea-Bird Scientific's mission as the world's largest developer and manufacturer of oceanographic measurement products.
Your responsibilities in the Final Test department are critical for ensuring the quality and precision of instruments that contribute to crucial environmental research and monitoring efforts globally. By interpreting and evaluating test results, you directly contribute to the accuracy of data related to salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, and other oceanographic parameters. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining manufacturing standards not only uphold the company's reputation but also contribute to the success of studies addressing climate changes, environmental impacts of major events, and offshore exploration.
This position is part of the Final Test located in Bellevue, Washington and will be on-site.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Instrument Test and Evaluation: Conduct thorough testing of oceanographic measurement instruments, including those measuring salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, and other relevant parameters. Evaluate and interpret test results with precision and attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the instruments.
- Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Standards: Uphold and enforce manufacturing standards to guarantee the highest quality of final products. Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to maintain consistency in the manufacturing of oceanographic measurement products.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with team members and report to the Final Test supervisor on the status of testing processes. Communicate any issues, deviations, or improvements in the testing procedures to contribute to continuous improvement in product quality. These essential functions highlight the critical role of the position in ensuring the quality, precision, and adherence to standards in the final testing phase of oceanographic measurement instruments.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Education or Equivalent Work Experience: A 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience is required. This educational background or relevant work experience is essential for candidates to have a foundational understanding of the technical aspects of the role.
- Demonstrated Electrical and/or Mechanical Experience: Candidates should possess 1-3 years of related demonstrated electrical and/or mechanical experience. This requirement emphasizes the hands-on experience and skills necessary to effectively set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the machinery and equipment involved in the production processes.
- Knowledge of Instruments and Tools: Basic knowledge of instruments and tools, such as hand and power tools, test jigs, voltmeters, and ohmmeters, is required. Excellent electro-mechanical skills are considered ideal, emphasizing the importance of technical proficiency in working with the equipment and tools used in the manufacturing processes.
