ORGANIZER IN TRAINING - Arkansas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania

SCOPE OF WORK:

CARE is offering a paid Organizer in Training (OIT) summer program that provides hands-on experience in grassroots organizing and advocacy.  This program will offer participants experience supporting advocacy campaign activities, including data management, reporting and outreach, while fostering professional growth.

The CARE Organizer In Training (OIT) program will provide strategic leadership, planning, resources, and direct assistance to: 

• help recruit, mobilize, and educate citizen advocates who will help CARE advocate for its programs with elected officials and local organizations
• develop and implement comprehensive organizing plans that include rank and file leadership development, data analysis, messaging, power analysis, and benchmarks and assessments,
• implement organizing and capacity-building programs, in collaboration with CARE, including leading training and representing at local events,
• membership recruitment and engagement, and leadership identification and development with clear goals, strategies, and benchmarks, and
• link statewide organizing, bargaining, and political campaigns to local initiatives that connect elected officials to CARE.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organizing and leading capacity-building programs that include leading training and representing at local events
• An increase in member recruitment and engagement
• Connections with local organizations that can help connect elected officials to CARE

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Candidates should be collaborative, detail-oriented and interested in grassroots mobilization.

DESIRED TIMING:

• The program will run from June 15 - August 15.  OIT's will work 10-15 hours per week.

LOCATION:

• OIT's must be based in Pennsylvania, North Carolina or Arkansas.
