Summary of Position:

The Water Resources Division Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of grants and contracts, including associated budgets. This role involves setting and achieving goals and objectives for the Water Resources Division, preparing and administering internal policies and procedures related to water resources division activities, and interpreting and explaining applicable rules, laws, and regulations to Tribal leadership, Tribal staff, community members, and other stakeholders. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the other Natural Resources Department (NRD) divisions and the Tribal Utility Authority (TUA) to protect and maintain various habitats and resources. This includes interdepartmental initiatives and ensuring regulatory compliance. The incumbent will also work with other departments, Tribal Administration, farmers, and ranchers on issues related to water access, delivery, and infrastructure management. The role requires collaboration with professionals such as engineers, construction contractors, environmental experts, and attorneys.


 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in hydrology, natural resources, environmental science, ecology, biology, watershed sciences, or other applicable field of study, and experience in water resources management or similar fields, preferably with Tribal Governments.
  • Advanced knowledge of water resources and water rights issues, practices, and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of hydrology, hydrogeology, and environmental planning.
  • Experience in conducting studies, preparing technical reports, and grant writing.
  • Supervisory experience, including performance evaluations, training, and development of staff.
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly and sustain prolonged walking and standing.
  • The ability to pass an FBI Fingerprint, background, reference and driver's check and drug screen.
  • Extended working hours, including weekends, may be required.
