Position Details

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School English Teacher to join the Bessemer Area Schools. In this educational setting the successful candidate will inspire and educate students in a positive and engaging learning environment while developing and delivering a curriculum aligned with state and national standards. This role fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills through active collaboration with colleagues and ongoing professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain) with English (BA) endorsement for grades 6-12
2. Additional certification (Minor) is Desired
3. Ability to interact positively with, and motivate, students
4. Ability to use data to plan and adjust instruction
5. Excellent classroom management skills
6. Ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative manner to improve student outcomes
7. Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and online sourcing tools with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms
8. Willingness to accept responsibility for student learning and progress
9. Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential.
10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

Qualified Applicant Procedure: 

Selected candidates will be required to have a district paid fingerprint criminal history check processed through the Michigan State Police and FBI.
