Editorial Assistant and Outreach Specialist

Full-time Contractor | USA-based (San Francisco/Remote) | Marketing/SEO | L2 | $20-$30 PH

Overview

Kapwing, a leading online content creation platform, is seeking a highly organized Editorial Assistant to help create, update, and develop content across its library. This role stretches across four pillars of content — resources blogs, landing pages, templates, and social media — with a heavy focus on SEO. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate or junior editor with direct experience in marketing, journalism, or a related field, and possesses a strong passion for video editing, social media, and writing.

This contractor, remote (with optional access to our San Francisco office), reports to the Head of Content at Kapwing.

Responsibilities

Story finding: Generating daily ideas and monthly feature ideas by monitoring social media trends, social media app updates, and the general AI and video editing landscape.
SEO duties: Helping to improve the SEO of Landing pages and Resources blogs by adding cross-interlinking, updating images, providing fresh graphics, adding image alt text, and adjusting keyword volume via the guidance of Kapwing’s Head of Content.
Writing: Updating Resources blogs (with the opportunity to pitch and write blogs monthly), and writing SEO-led tag page intros, meta descriptions, and more.
Quality checks: Assisting Kapwing’s Head of Content with fact-checking and proofreading of content across Resources, Tools pages, and Templates.
Design: Creating memes and templates for Kapwing’s Explore section.
Outreach: Providing organic outreach to news outlets and bloggers to promote new Tools pages, Templates, and Resources blogs.
AI+Editing: Using LLMs such as ChatGPT to help streamline the process of generating content for tag pages, meta descriptions, and Template descriptions.

Requirements

0-2 years in a full-time professional job or a related internship
Writing skills: Has outstanding published work online and a good understanding of SEO
Passion for AI, new technologies, video editing, and social media
Organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple duties
Education: BSc/BA in journalism, marketing, or a relevant field
