Unlicensed Mental Health Clinician

The Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of Unlicensed Mental Health Clinician. Incumbents, under immediate supervision, receive training and clinical supervision in providing professional behavioral health services in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment through the use of triage, screening, assessments, case management, rehabilitation, individual, family and group therapy and counseling sessions.
Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
Positions in this classification are in Medical Group I - Light Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require only light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Considerable walking or standing may be involved.
Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Registration: Current and active registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
License: Possession of a valid Class “C” driver's license, or equivalent.
Notes: Applications will be accepted for graduate students who can provide proof they are within 90 days of completion of a master’s degree required for a BBS registration as noted above. No person shall be hired without confirmation of completing the required master’s degree.
Registration with the BBS as noted above is a condition of employment in this classification. Proof of BBS Registration must be provided within 90 days from the date of initial employment for applicants who are either within 90 days of completion of their master’s degree or have recently graduated and have their initial application pending with the BBS. Failure to satisfy this requirement will result in separation from County employment.
Permanent status may not be obtained in this classification. Incumbents must maintain current registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at all times, and must obtain licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and advance to the Licensed Mental Health Clinician classification within six (6) years from the date of initial employment, or separate from County service.
