Business Development Internship

GP Transco – Business Development Internship 

Location: Joliet/Remote (Hybrid) 
Internship Type: Paid Internship (Part-Time or Full-Time), hourly + commission  
Department: Sales / Business Development 
Duration: 10–12 weeks (flexible) 

 

Internship Objective: 

The Business Development Intern at GP Transco will support the sales and growth initiatives of one of the nation’s top logistics companies. This internship is designed for individuals who are interested in learning about the freight and logistics industry, gaining hands-on sales experience, and developing business development skills in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. 

Interns will learn how to research potential customers, engage in outreach, communicate GP Transco’s value proposition, and support the scheduling of meetings with prospective clients. 

 

What You'll Learn and Do: 

1. Prospecting & Research 

Learn how to identify and research potential business clients using tools like LinkedIn and ZoomInfo 

Assist in organizing and prioritizing target accounts 

Support outreach efforts through phone, email, and social media engagement 

2. Sales & Communication 

Participate in introductory outreach to prospective customers under the guidance of senior team members 

Learn how to conduct initial exploratory conversations to understand client needs and communicate how GP Transco can help 

Support scheduling meetings between senior sales staff and qualified leads 

3. CRM & Reporting 

Gain experience using HubSpot CRM to document outreach, track engagement, and manage leads 

Learn how to analyze sales activity and contribute to weekly reports 

 

4. Team Collaboration 

Collaborate closely with our sales and marketing teams 

Attend team meetings to learn how strategy and outreach align 

Receive mentorship from experienced professionals in the logistics and transportation industry 

 

Who You Are: 

A current college student or recent graduate interested in sales, business development, or logistics 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented 

Curious and eager to learn about B2B sales strategy 

Comfortable with making outbound communication via phone or email (training provided) 

Able to work 15–40 hours per week, depending on availability
