About the Show:
Role Overview: Cool Science Radio is a dynamic, weekly radio program that brings the latest discoveries, innovations, and big ideas in science and technology to a broad audience. From space exploration to AI, biotech to climate science, the show features interviews with leading scientists, innovators, and thinkers who are shaping the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with co-host to organize and schedule 2 to 3 guests weekly, ensuring engaging and informative content for 52 shows per year.
- Research and develop weekly program topics that highlight timely and compelling developments in science and technology.
- Book and conduct interviews with scientists, researchers, and thought leaders across various scientific disciplines.
- Team player with excellent communication, organizational, and editorial judgment
- Utilize prior experience in broadcasting, podcasting, or radio.
- Edit and mix segments for air and podcast platforms
- Write host scripts, promos, and web copy for each episode
Qualifications:
- Deep interest in science, innovation, and public service media
- Strong interview and storytelling skills; able to translate complex topics into everyday language
- Experience producing or hosting audio content under deadline.
- Experience in radio editing and audio production.
- Excellent professional writing capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills and adept interview techniques.
- Handle radio editing and audio production tasks efficiently.
Bonus Points For:
- Background in science communication or STEM
- Familiarity with public radio sound and standards
- Experience planning or hosting live events or call-in shows
