Kitchen-Dining Room Supervisor - Assisted Living

9:30/10:30 am - 6:30/7:30 pm | M-F | 40 hours/week | non-exempt

Director of Assisted Living
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
The Kitchen-Dining Room Supervisor coordinates all activities related to the dining room and kitchen area. This position oversees the dining room set-up, schedules, and manages the dining room and kitchen staff. It is a hands-on position—the Kitchen-Dining Room Supervisor works alongside their staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Kitchen Management

- Supervise kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Ensure proper food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.
- Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Monitor food quality and presentation.
- Ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
Dining Room Management

- Supervise dining/kitchen room staff, including weekend staff.
- Ensure prompt and efficient food service.
- Address resident concerns and resolve complaints.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the dining room.
- Ensure proper table setting and presentation.
- Manage staff schedules.
General Duties

- Maintain adequate inventory of dining room items and disposables.
- Provide professional contact with vendors.
- Oversee cleaning and upkeep of both the kitchen and dining room.
- Maintain lists of special meal requirements.
- Train and develop staff skills.
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Ensure all employees are adhering to company standards.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Maintain staff discipline and conduct.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Learn the Kronos scheduling system to complete monthly scheduling for employees.
- Conduct interviews, hire, and train staff as needed. Learn the recruitment/hiring process, including screening, interviewing, and selection.
- Operate and teach use of all department equipment.
- Demonstrate MSLCC’s customer service standards of excellence.
- Respect and uphold resident rights in all regards, including confidentiality of resident information, and refrain from any action that would be considered abusive physically, emotionally, or verbally, or neglectful of their needs
- Must be on call when assigned, typically every other weekend and holiday.
- Know, understand, implement, and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk with heavy trays/tubs (up to 50 pounds). Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight, taste, smell, and hearing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to raw meat, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Will be around hot/cold food and equipment, and will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including goggles, masks, rubber gloves, and other safeguards.
WORK CONDITIONS
A well-lighted and well-ventilated 64-apartment retirement community on two levels with carpeted and vinyl floors.

REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma / GED accepted
- An Associate's degree with an emphasis in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism, or 2 years of experience in a hotel, restaurant, or service-related field. Experience in restaurant supervision is preferred
- Successfully pass a criminal background check, including motor vehicle record (MVR), drug screening, and reference check.
- Completion of training as required by Missouri Slope
