Respiratory Aide

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivery, pickup, instruction, equipment maintenance, van management, and warehouse maintenance of Home Medical Equipment.

  • Delivers to and instructs clients in the installation and operation of equipment provided by HME.
  • Sets up and removes equipment and supplies; ensures equipment is functioning properly and stored appropriately.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment.
  • Complies with applicable Food & Drug Administration, Department of Transportation, and Public Utilities Commission requirements in performing job duties that require the use of home oxygen and other hazardous materials.
  • Assists in inventory process as necessary.
  • Communicates observations, facts and comments with interdisciplinary team members, individually, and through team meeting presentations as is appropriate.
  • Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains required unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes and budget preparation.
  • Provides and/or arranges for appropriate maintenance of department vehicles and keeps them clean.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections and electrical safety testing and corrects problems encountered.
  • Rotation for on-call to handle afterhours troubleshooting, equipment failure and equipment setups.

Education:

  • A current student in good standing with an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program or a recent graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program (required)
  • Note: Students who have complete one respiratory course or in clinicals highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in healthcare setting or EMT/Paramedic experience preferred
