💰 Salary: $55,032 - $74,736 per year + Bilingual Pay

The Illinois Department of Human Services is seeking a motivated, compassionate Social Services Career Trainee to join our dynamic team in Lake County (Waukegan Office). This is your opportunity to receive comprehensive on-the-job training in public assistance programs that support individuals and families in need.

💼 What You’ll Do:
• Receive hands-on training in managing public assistance cases (TANF, SNAP, Medical Assistance, AABD, etc.)
• Inform clients about welfare programs, child support, and work incentives, helping them navigate vital services
• Evaluate client needs and make referrals to appropriate services for long-term support
• Gain experience in case management tasks like budget computation, eligibility determination, and case updates
• Translate and support Spanish-speaking clients if bilingual

📚 What We’re Looking For:
• Completion of four (4) years of college, preferably in social sciences or a related field
• Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish at a colloquial level (for bilingual applicants)
• Passion for social services and a desire to help underserved communities
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and attention to detail
