Salary: paid, $20/hr (Between 10 - 30 hours per week), reimbursement for mileage

Description: The Young Scientist Academy (YSA) is currently seeking a motivated, dedicated, and community-focused STEM Education Intern to lead our diverse youth programs that cover a wide range of topics within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
YSA is a non-profit organization, bringing over 20 years of global experience in scientific research and education. Our mission is to empower the next generation to be community ambassadors of science and technology. We provide opportunities for students to use science as a means of problem solving real-world solutions to issues that they care about.
Student Duties:
- Lead STEM programs for elementary, middle, and high school students
- Create curriculum with the support of YSA staff
- Support YSA staff in setting up, tearing down, and executing programs
- Occasionally transport students to and from YSA programs
Required Qualifications:
- Experience leading informal education or after-school programs for children
- Commitment to YSA responsibilities and mission, including diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education
- Engaging, patient, and flexible attitude with a team mindset
- Pursuing a collegiate degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or STEM education
- Valid North Carolina Drivers License
- Pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with coding software, languages, and tools such as Python, R, CSS, HTML, Django, and Chat GPT
- Field experience
- Experience designing and executing experiments
