Intern, Office of Commercial Disruption and International Relations
The Executive Office of the President (EOP)'s Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP)’s Office of Commercial Disruption and International Relations (OCDIR) develops and implements supply reduction policy to reduce drug use and its consequences and coordinates all of ONDCP’s international engagements. This component drafts the relevant sections of the National Drug Control Strategy, supports the ONDCP budget guidance development process with international relations and supply reduction subject matter expertise to ensure adherence to evidence-and-intelligence-based approaches among the interagency, and convenes the interagency to ensure execution of drug policy priorities. Component staff work on a range of domestic and international issues, with federal agencies, bilateral partners and multilateral fora.
ONDCP/OCDIR seeks 1 unpaid intern who is highly motivated to contribute to ONDCP's critical mission. The internship will focus on general research, writing memos, preparing and delivering briefs. Strong communication skills, especially writing, is key. Spanish skills may be useful but not required. An International Relations or national security background is strongly preferred.
The Summer 2025 internship term is currently scheduled to begin on June 23, 2025, and currently set to end on August 22, 2025. Interns would be expected to work 16-40 hours per week (Monday – Friday) depending on their availability and may only work up to eight hours a day between the hours of 7am – 7pm ET. All internships are located in Washington, D.C. Business attire is required.
Selected interns must be available for the entire duration of the Summer 2025 session (i.e., June 23 through August 22, 2025); and must be available for the entirety of the first day of the program (June 23, 2025).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be a U.S. citizen;
• Must be 18 years of age or older;
• Males must be registered with the Selective Service;
• Must be able to commit to at least 16 hours per week;
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate college, community college, or university at least half-time. Students who have graduated will not be considered.
• Must pass a background check and drug test;
Applications will be accepted from May 05, 2025, through May 19, 2025. However, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible during the application window.
This internship will be conducted onsite/in-person; Telework is not approved for any internship position with the EOP.
