Social Media College Intern

The Social Media College Intern supports the organization’s marketing and communications efforts by assisting with the creation, scheduling, and management of content across various social media platforms. This role is designed for current college students seeking hands-on experience in social media strategy, content creation, and digital marketing. The intern will work closely with the marketing team, contributing creative ideas, monitoring engagement, and reporting on campaign performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling engaging content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and potentially TikTok or LinkedIn.

Support the development and execution of social media campaigns aligned with business or departmental goals.

Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and help manage the organization’s online presence.

Research competitors and current trends to inform content strategy and suggest new ideas.

Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics to gauge campaign effectiveness and audience engagement.

Capture and edit photos and videos for use on social media platforms.

Participate in team meetings to brainstorm campaign ideas and contribute to strategy discussions.

Assist with maintaining a content calendar and ensuring timely publication of posts.

Attend and provide social media coverage for organizational events as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Current enrollment as a college student, preferably pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.) and content management tools.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with basic copywriting ability.

Experience or interest in creating visual content (graphics, photos, short videos); knowledge of design tools like Canva or Adobe Suite is a plus.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail, creativity, and a willingness to learn new digital marketing skills.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media analytics.
