As a boutique advisory firm that works with private equity firms, strategic acquirers, and their portfolio companies, we help our clients assess investment opportunities across most major sectors by providing them with the data-driven insights and analysis they need to make investments and create value in middle market companies and industries.
As part of our continued growth, we are hiring a Pricing Associate who will specialize in pricing strategy engagements, bringing the analytical rigor and commercial insight of traditional due diligence work to support clients in optimizing price positioning, monetization models, and revenue strategy.
WHAT WE DO: M&A Due Diligence, Sell-side Industry Analysis, Portfolio Services, Pricing Strategy
- Buy-side commercial diligence on mission critical investment issues (addressable market, growth, competition, VoC) for PE & corporate acquisitions.
- Sell-side industry reports to assist owners, management, and their advisors/investment bankers in preparing a company for sale.
- Assisting portfolio company management in realizing value through accelerated organic growth, buy and build acquisition strategies, and targeted quick strike value creation.
- Advising clients on pricing structures, models, and strategies to uncover opportunities for margin improvement, optimize price realization, and support profitable growth initiatives.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Pricing Associate, you will be part of a fast-paced, analytical, and collaborative team that helps clients enhance their pricing models to drive revenue growth, improve profit margins, and optimize customer value. This role will play a key part in IGS’s Portfolio Services practice, working closely with clients to evaluate how they price their products and services, how pricing aligns with market dynamics, and where there are opportunities for improvement.
Pricing Associates at IGS have earned an undergraduate degree and typically have professional work experience after graduating or through internships. You’ll analyze internal financial data, customer and competitor pricing benchmarks, primary market research, value analysis, cost structures, and strategic goals to identify pricing levers that can unlock value. This role is ideal for candidates with strong quantitative and strategic thinking skills who are excited about helping businesses use pricing as a strategic tool for performance improvement.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
IGS is looking for candidates who are intellectually curious, driven, and excited about working in a collaborative environment. In addition, candidates should be interested in:
- Supporting pricing strategy assessments for client companies across industries
- Evaluating current pricing structures, discounting models, and profitability by segment, customer, and product
- Conducting financial and operational analyses to understand pricing impacts on company performance
- Benchmarking client pricing approaches against competitors and industry best practices
- Developing pricing models and frameworks to test potential improvements and revenue scenarios
- Synthesizing findings into clear, actionable insights for client reports
- Assuming a high level of responsibility by managing primary research teams
- Working with client teams to implement pricing recommendations and measure results
- Working in a dynamic and hybrid environment
- Working and living in Boston; IGS associates rarely travel.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required; a focus in economics, business, finance, or a quantitative field is a plus
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, pricing analytics, or strategy, preferred
- Ability to learn quickly, are self-starters and hands-on contributors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Comfort working with large datasets and translating findings into business implications
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and operate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated interest in pricing, strategy, or performance improvement
PRICING ASSOCIATE SKILLS
- Design and execute complex quantitative analyses, including pricing sensitivity studies, margin and cost breakdowns, and customer segmentation profitability
- Evaluate pricing models and discounting frameworks using internal financial data, customer behavior insights, and market benchmarks
- Develop proprietary pricing assessments, interview guides, and presentations to address client pricing challenges
- Conduct professional interviews with stakeholders to uncover pricing practices and decision-making drivers
- Locate and synthesize public and proprietary pricing and competitive intelligence sources
- Build and refine dynamic pricing models using Excel and financial analysis tools
- Analyze price realization, cost-to-serve, and customer profitability to identify pricing improvement opportunities
- Create compelling, data-driven client presentations from initial storyboard to final deliverable
- Collaborate in a team-based environment to solve complex pricing and strategy problems
- Communicate pricing insights clearly through client-ready presentations and internal case team discussions
- Demonstrate agility and focus in high-pressure, fast-turnaround project environments
- Contribute to a learning-oriented culture by mentoring new associates and sharing pricing expertise
