Full-Time NYS Certified Advocate – Hudson Valley Long Term Care Ombudsman Program
The Hudson Valley Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) is seeking a dedicated full-time Resident Advocate/NYS Certified Ombudsman to serve long-term care facilities, primarily in Sullivan County and the bordering counties of Ulster and Orange.[TN1] This includes nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult homes, and family-type homes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for residents’ rights and well-being in a variety of care environments, focusing on facilities in Sullivan County and nearby Ulster and Orange counties.
- Conduct in-person visits and attend resident meetings in long-term care facilities.
- Provide telephone support on non-field days and document activities and complaints.
- Collaborate with a supportive team to address and resolve concerns.
- Complete required continuing education, team meetings, and state program calls.
- Participate in outreach opportunities and maintain accurate records in the NYS reporting system.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Critical thinking skills to analyze issues and develop effective solutions.
- Proficiency in computer use, data entry, and telephone communication.
- Compassion and sensitivity when working with older adults and individuals with multiple health conditions.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel (approximately 75% travel within Sullivan, Ulster, and Orange counties).
- Enthusiasm for team collaboration and advocacy work.
- Ability to complete a week-long state training program to become a certified ombudsman (training provided).
Position Details:
- Full-time position, 35 hours per week, with a mix of field and office work.
- Benefits include mileage reimbursement, vacation, fringe benefits, paid holidays, and personal time.
- Comprehensive training provided post-hire, including a pre-shadow visit to a long-term care facility.
- Salary Range $40K+
