The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

 

As a Part Time Student Technical ME for JD World Headquarters located in Waterloo, you will:

 

  • Assist in the creation and management of sequence of events documentation including output standards.  Output standards are used in baseline data for wage performance pay plans, product costing, and capacity planning.
  • Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions including methods change tracking and various reports
  • Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing.
  • Participate in implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology

 

This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas

 

What Skills You Need

 

  • Pursuing a bachelors degree, ideally in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or any additional technical and relevant degrees may apply
  • Ability to work 16-20 hours during the academic year
  • Ability to work 30-40 hours during the summer semester
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Excel
  • Demonstrated good written and verbal (English) communication skills
  • Ability to work in cross-function groups and a team environment

 

 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Exposure to Industrial Engineering concepts such as time study, Sequence of Events/Methods, and assembly line balancing
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles for process improvements
  • Experience in the heavy equipment industry, Ag industry or farming experience.
  • Experience in project management and business planning.
  • Exposure to process and line design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management
