WordPress Plugin Development Intern

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented WordPress Plugin Development Intern to join our software development team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about WordPress and eager to learn how to build, extend, and maintain plugins in real-world environments. You’ll work closely with experienced developers and gain hands-on experience in plugin architecture, coding standards, and performance optimization. This is an unpaid internship intended for academic credit. Interns must register for an internship course (for credit or zero credit) to comply with academic requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and customization of WordPress plugins
  • Write clean, reusable code using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Learn and apply WordPress coding standards and best practices
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting plugins
  • Support in integrating third-party APIs and services
  • Contribute to code reviews and documentation
  • Stay up to date with the latest WordPress updates and plugin development trends

Requirements:

Basic understanding of WordPress, themes, and plugins

Familiarity with PHP, JavaScript (especially jQuery), HTML, and CSS

Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and within a team

Strong communication and time management skills

Nice to Have (but not required):

Exposure to Git or version control systems

Knowledge of WordPress hooks, actions, and filters

Familiarity with REST APIs

Previous coursework or personal projects related to WordPress
