AMC Tutor
Position Overview:
As an AMC Math Tutor, you’ll work closely with middle and high school students who are preparing for the American Mathematics Competitions. You’ll serve as a mentor and coach—breaking down advanced problems, guiding students through challenging concepts, and helping them build critical thinking skills that go far beyond the test.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective tutoring sessions that prepare students for the AMC 8, 10, or 12 exams
- Teach core topics such as algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, and probability in a way that's clear, logical, and fun
- Help students develop strategies for solving unfamiliar and multi-step problems quickly and accurately
- Review past AMC problems, mock tests, and tricky concepts, and explain solutions in step-by-step detail
- Customize instruction to match each student’s learning style, pace, and competition goals
Track progress, provide detailed feedback, and adjust your teaching approach as needed - Inspire confidence, perseverance, and curiosity in every session
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong foundation in competition-level math; AMC/AIME/MathCounts experience is a big plus
- Passion for teaching and mentoring motivated students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized, dependable, and flexible with scheduling
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience preferred (but not required)
Nice-to-Have:
- Scored in the top 5% of an AMC exam or qualified for AIME
- Familiarity with Zoom, Desmos, GeoGebra, or other online teaching tools
