About The Dream Center:
The Dream Center is a business support hub and community-driven co-working space located in the heart of Chicago’s Soul City Corridor. Our mission is to empower entrepreneurs, foster collaboration, and uplift the community through innovation, resources, and strategic support. We’re expanding our creative reach and are looking for a visionary Creative Director to help shape and lead our visual storytelling.
Position Summary:
As Creative Director, you’ll be the brand’s lead visionary—bringing fresh ideas, strong visual direction, and a creative strategy that reflects the mission and energy of The Dream Center. You’ll be responsible for managing and producing content that supports our programs, events, digital platforms, and marketing campaigns. This is a hands-on, part-time role ideal for a creative leader who thrives in a purpose-driven, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand & Creative Strategy
Define and evolve the visual identity of The Dream Center across all platforms
Translate business and community goals into compelling creative campaigns
Guide all branded content including print, digital, social media, and event visuals
Content Development
Oversee creative production for events, social media, newsletters, digital ads, and program materials
Direct photography, video, and design projects in alignment with brand vision
Maintain a consistent tone, look, and message across all internal and external materials
Team Collaboration
Work closely with the CEO and marketing team to prioritize creative needs
Manage freelance creatives, vendors, or interns when necessary
Lead creative brainstorming sessions and contribute to strategic planning
Innovation & Community Engagement
Stay on top of design trends, cultural movements, and community narratives
Ensure all creative reflects and resonates with the entrepreneurs and community we serve
Ideal Candidate:
5+ years of experience in branding, design, or creative direction
Strong portfolio showcasing digital campaigns, branding, and storytelling
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and project management tools
Self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills
Passionate about entrepreneurship, equity, and community development
Comfortable working hybrid (some in-person meetings in Chicago)
Bonus Points If You Have:
Experience with video editing, motion graphics, or photography
Background in nonprofit, community, or mission-based organizations
A heart for empowering underserved communities and elevating Black-owned businesses
