Intern positions at Shield Engineering Group provide college students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in a variety of land development and municipal infrastructure projects. Students will work alongside professionals which provide invaluable experiences of applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a consulting engineering office.

Duties

  • Use AutoCad Civil3D software to perform engineering tasks.
  • Assist in initial site research and due diligence.
  • Assist in the preparation of quantity take-offs, costs estimates, engineering drawings, maps, and other related tasks as required to support projects.
  • Construction observation of land development, municipal water, sewer and stormwater projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of permits for land development and municipal projects.
  • Assumes other duties as directed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous Civil Engineering internship experience.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering form an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering fundamentals, surveying and drafting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
