Creative Services Manager

The Office of Communications is responsible for improving air quality by promoting the programs of the California Air Resources Board through public information, traditional media, publications, the web, and social media channels. The responsibilities are in support of the state’s air quality and climate change programs.

This position will lead digital media campaigns and directly supervise staff in the creative services of video, graphic design, photography and social media. This position will report to the Deputy Communications Director. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day workflow of the creative services staff in coordination with the Director of Communications and Deputy Director. The preferred incumbent will have proficiency in digital media strategies including video, graphic design and social media. The supervisor will provide creative support and advice to the Director and Deputy Director, help develop creative strategies and solutions to promote programs and policies, represent the office in a professional and knowledgeable manner; and work cooperatively with internal staff and external stakeholders.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required. 

Beginning July 1st, 2025, per Executive Order N-22-25, CARB employees will be required to report into office four days a week. 

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the positions designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.

  • Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
  • Additional working condition(s): Occasional travel will be required.
