WAND News – Central Illinois' #1 News Team

Are you a curious, creative storyteller with a passion for breaking news and a strong social game? If you're a recent journalism grad with 1–2 years of reporting experience under your belt, WAND-TV wants you to be part of our energetic and supportive newsroom.

We're WAND-TV (DMA 88), the most-watched station in Central Illinois, and we're looking for a smart, driven reporter who’s ready to grow fast and tell stories that matter.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own your newscasts—bring your ideas to life, from pitch to production.
  • Turn solid, engaging stories daily with a strong “new, now, next” news judgement.
  • Use social media to connect with our audience, break stories, and build your brand.
  • Collaborate with our incredible team of photographers, drone pilots, and newsroom creatives to make your storytelling pop.
  • Work in a newsroom that actually supports you—and where ego takes a backseat to teamwork.

Who You Are:

  • A college grad with a journalism degree.
  • You’ve got 1–2 years of real newsroom experience.
  • You’re curious, quick-thinking, and know how to ask the right questions.
  • Social media isn’t just a bonus—it’s second nature.
  • You’ve got natural charisma on camera, and off-camera you're someone people genuinely like working with.

What We Offer:

  • Starting salary: $32,000–$35,000
  • Low-cost health, dental, and vision plans
  • Company-paid HSA, life insurance, and disability coverage
  • 6% 401(k) employer match (yes, six percent)
  • Generous paid time off to actually have a life
  • A positive, no-drama culture where mentorship and growth matter
