Finance Assistant

The Virginia House Democratic Caucus is building out a robust Finance team that will play a key role in ensuring that we retain & expand our majority in 2025. The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Finance Director and Deputy Finance Directors to ensure that they have the resources, assistance, and guidance to support the caucus’s and members’ fundraising goals. 


The scheduled start date for this position is May 27th, 2025, but this can be adjusted as necessary. This is an in-person position, based in Richmond, VA, reporting to the Finance Director and termed through December 31st, 2025.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Complete data-entry into financial databases, including NGP and Warchest
  • Assist Executive Director and Finance Director with all tracking and initial payment of Caucus invoices to ensure correct cashflow.
  • Researching potential local, statewide, and national donors and donor data for accuracy.
  • Staffing / overseeing call time for Caucus members.
  • Support the Finance Team in all matters relating to compliance, including carefully collecting required information for disclosures and maintaining databases
  • Assist with the facilitation of fundraising events and support Caucus Members as needed.
  • Create online donation pages through ActBlue and other online giving platforms
  • Deposit checks in a timely manner and carefully file them in accordance with VHDC document retention standards.
  • Assist with building robust email and digital fundraising campaigns
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the VHDC finance program including: data entry, database management, prospecting, etc.


Compensation

Salary for this position is $4,500 per month. All Caucus staff are provided with a full health care & benefits package, including vision and dental. The cost is fully covered by the employer. Employer-sponsored 401(k)s are also available to all employees.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Minimum one cycle of experience in political fundraising and campaigns, with a strong track record of success.
  • Familiarity with Excel / Google Sheets. Familiarity with NGP-VAN and call time dialers is a plus.
  • Excitement to create and maintain strong relationships with leadership, members, candidates, and staff.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management, planning, and organization skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and support multiple projects, and a willingness to hold self and others accountable to goals.
  • Team player with a positive attitude who is able to motivate others.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including frequent evening and weekend work, and ability to travel statewide. '
  • Commitment to winning and retaining a Democratic majority in the Virginia House of Delegates.
  • Travel in-state, as well as evening and weekend work, will be required.
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Richmond, VA area.
