International Trade Director

Location: KDA Headquarters in Manhattan, Kansas.
Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The International Trade Director leads Kansas’ international agriculture marketing strategy, working closely with industry leaders, commodity groups, and partner organizations to drive trade initiatives and expand global market opportunities. This position is responsible for managing existing export relationships and identifying and developing new international markets for Kansas agricultural products.
- Lead international trade development for Kansas agriculture and implement the Kansas Agriculture Growth Strategy.
- Represent Kansas in key national and international trade organizations.
- Organize trade missions to promote Kansas agricultural exports while building global partnerships and showcasing Kansas agriculture.
- Provide market analysis and training to help Kansas producers access and grow in international markets.
- Manage international marketing expenses, ensuring compliance with program reporting requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in agribusiness, international marketing and trade, and/or economic development, or a combination of education and work experience.
- Significant overnight travel is required--the candidate must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, up to 50% annually.
- A current U.S. Passport or the ability to obtain a U.S. Passport is required for this position. Associated costs for the U.S. Passport will be covered by the agency.

- A self-starter with strong business and economic acumen.
- Comfortable managing complex projects, analyzing market data, and delivering results.
Preferred Requirements (Not Required):
- Demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate relationships and lead cross-functional teams with preferred experience in the agriculture industry.
- Proficiency in a foreign language and a master’s degree in international business, marketing, or a related field are preferred.
- Brings a blend of creative and strategic thinking, with a strong track record of executing international marketing initiatives in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
