GIS Intern - Summer 2025

The Department of Transportation - Division of Transportation System Development is looking to hire a GIS intern for Summer 2025. 

The positions will be full-time in summer 2025, with potential flexible hours during the fall semester. (appointment will not exceed 1 year or 1,039 hours)

Locations/Remote and Office Hybrid: Waukesha, WI. 

This limited term position performs geographic information system (GIS) activities for the DTSD Bureau of Technical Services under general supervision of the Surveying & Mapping Section Chief. This position will use GIS to georeference and digitize right-of-way (ROW) plat files; help to test and refine existing procedures; and locate and organize files to aid in future georeferencing.

The position requires the ability to create, edit, and analyze GIS data using ESRI software. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills are also required. 

Minimum qualifications needed are: 

• Strong GIS knowledge: technology, concepts, techniques, and related databases
• Experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro software
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Effective organizational and communication skills
