About Us

At NewTerra Compost, we're passionate about turning food waste into a resource and making sustainable practices part of everyday life. We're a small but mighty team, and we’re looking to fill a new role with a team member who is ready to roll up their sleeves, dive into hands-on work, and grow with us.

About the Role

The Operations Coordinator is a foundational role that offers a unique opportunity to learn every aspect of our composting operations. This person will take on a mix of responsibilities including compost collections, site work, deliveries, and special projects. Over time, the goal is to develop this individual into a leadership role—helping supervise operations and improve workflow across the team.

This job is perfect for someone who is passionate about sustainability, thrives in a physically active and outdoor environment, and wants to be part of building something meaningful.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Compost Pickups (40%) – Driving collection routes and picking up food scraps from customers.

  • Deliveries (20%) – Delivering finished compost and other products.

  • Site Work & Projects (40%) – Working hands-on at the compost site, helping with processing, maintenance, and operational improvements.

  • Supporting team members and covering routes when others are out.

  • Pitching in on equipment checks and preventative maintenance.

  • Managing multiple ongoing tasks and small projects.

  • Communicating with the team and customers in person, by phone, and over email.

  • Collaborating with owners and team members to plan and improve operations.

What We're Looking For

  • Recent college graduates with a strong interest in sustainability, agriculture, environmental science, business or a related field.

  • Excited to work with food scraps and compost in all weather conditions.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently without supervision.

  • Strong time management and project coordination skills.

  • Effective communicator with a can-do attitude and team spirit.

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment maintenance.

  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to pass a drug screening and periodic testing.

  • Access to reliable transportation to/from worksite.

Bonus Skills (but not required)

  • Previous experience in composting, landscaping, farming, or similar hands-on work.

  • Familiarity with basic mechanical repair or tools.
