Student Pastor

STUDENT PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION: 

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Student Pastor is to introduce young people to Christ; to disciple them in spiritual growth; to train them in serving Christ with their life. Of equal importance is to assist parents in raising their teenagers to maturity. Finally, to oversee and support the activity entrusted to leadership of the student ministry program.

EXPECTATIONS: The Church At Osage Hills believes that all pastors and staff should have the following:

  • A strong Christian character and servant leadership in accordance with 1st Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1st Peter 5:1-4
  • Willingness to comply with all governing documents of the Church, including the bylaws and church policies.
  • Willingness to cooperate as a part of a team and to publicly demonstrate support for co-workers and the direction of the church as determined by the Leadership team.
  • A commitment to honor confidential matters of the church, pastors and staff.

 

REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor

STATUS: Full-Time Salaried 

HOURS: Coordinate with Supervisor. 

SUPERVISION OF EMPLOYEES: none. 

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL: Lead Pastor will perform a yearly job appraisal on the Student Pastor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and engage in a challenging, maturing, and life-defining relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Develop and program a ministry that works from 6th grade all the way through 12th grade to inspire, encourage, challenge, and grow students in their faith journey. 
  • Create an atmosphere and environment where all students feel welcomed, loved, free to express themselves and process what is going on in their world. 
  • Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing connection, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, with an emphasis on outreach. 
  • Recruit, train and disciple volunteer youth staff. 
  • Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis. 
  • Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities. 
  • Work with other leaders/ministries to create great transitions and handoffs between incoming      6th graders, 9th graders and outgoing 12th graders. 
  • Engage with students outside the church walls. Create opportunities for students 
    to see us live out our faith. 
  • Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budget, and 
    manage student fees for events and trips in a timely fashion. 
  • To maintain regular office hours negotiated with the Pastor. 
  • To participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • To aid in the Pastoral care of Osage Hills, at large, when called upon by the Lead Pastor; such as, pastoral counseling, hospital visits, one-on-one discipleship, and preaching.
